Acupuncture

5 element acupuncture Boulder CountyBoulder County Acupuncture uses 5 element acupuncture for the majority of patients we see. 5 element acupuncture is one of the most powerful treatment options for working on the level of the mind and spirit. You can learn more about 5 element acupuncture by downloading our free ebook, How To Thrive In the Modern World.

The reason that we hold 5 element acupuncture in such high regard is that so many people in our modern world are struggling to gain clarity about their life purpose. Because of this, many people suffer from stagnation. Even though they are functioning, they feel alienated, stressed, and overwhelmed.

Simply put, many people feel like they have lost themselves. 5 element acupuncture is primarily intended to get YOU back, the big YOU that wants to grow, be healthy, and fully alive. Until this happens, all treatment will only put a bandage on the real issue.

Boulder County Acupuncture8 principle acupuncture is used for patients who need more immediate relief from pain or other symptoms. The vast majority of acupuncturists trained in the Western world use 8 principle acupuncture. Unfortunately, many of the acupuncture schools try to emulate the Western medical model by reducing acupuncture down to a mechanistic set of protocols that can be performed by any competent technician of the medicine. There are certainly amazing 8 principle acupuncturists out there, but many of them have lost the real spirit of Chinese medicine.

Boulder County Acupuncture is one of the very few clinics in existence that combines 5 element and 8 principle acupuncture to offer you a truly comprehensive treatment approach. Add to this combination the possibilities of nutritional counseling, life coaching and guided stress reduction exercises, and you have a very potent and synergistic blend of therapies that can get you back on track in your life. This multi-layered approach is often what it takes to make real change in our modern world, as there are so many forces out there that prevent us from optimal health and wellness.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicineChinese herbal medicine is an ancient, highly elaborate system of natural healing that has been used by billions of people for all kinds of health conditions. Boulder County Acupuncture has a comprehensive herbal pharmacy of patents formulas, tinctures, and granulars. We use mostly Chinese herbs but do use a number of Western and Amazon herbs as well.

Chinese herbal medicine is a wonderful complement to acupuncture treatment, as it works on different substrates in the body and maintains continuity in therapeutic intervention. Acupuncture works on the level of energy by harmonizing the flow of Qi through the main energetic pathways of the body. Quantum physics has verified that our entire material world is comprised of energy, as is the human body. Acupuncture is so unique because it is one of the few therapies that can manipulate the flow of energy in the body and mind to produce a therapeutic effect. In acupuncture theory, until chronic health conditions are addressed on the energetic level, the root cause or problem will often be neglected.

Chinese herbs work more on the level of blood and manifest physiology. The herbs contain macro and micronutrients that can have specific therapeutic effects on certain organs of the body, such as the liver or kidneys. By working on both the immaterial and material levels, the treatment of acupuncture with herbs is much more effective and lasting.

Nutrition

Nutrition - Boulder County AcupunctureWe encourage all of our patients to choose an organic whole foods diet that has minimal amounts of sugars, white flour products, synthetic additives, or various ingredients that are difficult to pronounce. This is universally beneficial to all people.

After that, we believe that nutritional guidelines need to be specific to you as an individual. There is no 'one size fits all' approach to the best way to eat because each of us has different constitutions. Some people should be eating a raw food diet based on their constitution (yin deficient--dry and over heated), while others need to eat mostly cooked foods (yang deficient--run cold and depleted).

We generally don't believe in diets because they flat out don't work. The goal is to find a balanced and authentic way to eat for the long-term. If it feels unnatural, forced, or excessively uncomfortable there is almost no chance of the diet becoming a viable long-term solution.

In this day and age, our relationship with food has so much to do with how well we are managing stress, expressing our emotions, and maintaining awareness of our core beliefs. We easily turn to food for immediate gratification and comfort, which so often points to a deeper imbalance that is taking place in the mind. Our goal is to help you work on this level so you can make lasting changes, possibly for the first time ever.
